Thursday, April 7th @ 6:30pm, Central Lincoln Peoples Utility District
2129 N Coast Hwy, Newport, OR 97365
The public is invited to a talk by researcher Doug Glavich at the MidCoast Watersheds Council meeting on Thursday, April 7th, 2016 at 6:30 pm in Newport, to learn about air quality and lichens. The meeting is held in the public meeting room of the Central Lincoln PUD building located at 2129 N Coast Hwy in Newport, across from the Safeway complex. Refreshments will be served.
Glavich will explore how air quality and ecosystem health are linked and share how he "reads air quality from the trees". Doug Glavich studied lichens under Steve Sillett at Humboldt State University, and is currently working as a lichenologist and ecologist for multiple Forest Service departments: Siuslaw National Forest, Northwest Regional Air Resources Management Program and the Northwest Oregon Ecology Group. While he performs many roles for the Forest Service, including native plant restoration and studying coast range meadow plant communities, he has been working in lichen ecology for nearly twenty years. His role in the Forest Service Air Program is monitoring air quality and climate trends with lichens.
Please join us Thursday April 7th at 6:30 for this presentation.
