Restoring Our Estuaries: A Look at the Alsea

  • Waldport Community Center 265 Northwest Hemlock Street Waldport, OR, 97394 United States (map)

Are you interested in learning about estuary restoration and opportunities for conservation in your community and on your land?

MidCoast Watersheds Council, a local non-profit organization, invites you to join us for a presentation about our local estuaries, the importance of tidal wetlands for fish, wildlife, birds, and people, restoration projects, and opportunities to conserve land. Speakers from MidCoast Watersheds Council and McKenzie River Trust will share why local collaboration is key to conserving and restoring tidal wetlands. You’ll hear about a restoration project close to home at the Starr Creek Preserve, a tidal wetland on the Alsea Bay, and learn about ways to conserve your land through working with land trusts. We’ll also discuss sea level rise, flooding, and storm surge and how these factors may affect properties and infrastructure along the estuary. We would like to hear from you about what you are experiencing on your land and how this relates to your plans for your property. Join us to learn more about estuary restoration and how you can get involved! The event will be at the Waldport Community Center on Wednesday June 4th at 3:00 PM. RSVP through Eventbrite is encouraged but not required.
